Multi Crew Cooperation - MCC VFR/IFR

MCC VFR/IFR - Multi Crew Cooperation Kurs | commercial pilot training | helicopter pilot | pilot course | helicopter training | pilot school | flying lessons

The goal of the MCC training is to provide pilots with the necessary skills and knowledge to safely operate helicopters in a multi pilot environment. It can be started after having received the CPL(H) licence.
Even for single pilot operation, the course provides skills that are valuable for increased safety.

There are two types of MCC courses:

  • MCC VFR
  • MCC IFR

Training packages

Babcock MCS Germany GmbH offers the training in each case at a fixed price if you complete the training within the legally required specifications

Content of Training MCC VFR / IFR

MCC VFR/IFR - Multi Crew Cooperation Kurs | commercial pilot training | helicopter pilot | pilot course | helicopter training | pilot school | flying lessons

The MCC VFR course consists of:

  • 25 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction and exercises, and
  • 15 hours of practical MCC training or 10 hours, in case of the student pilot attending an ATPL(H) integrated course.
If the MCC training is combined with an initial type rating training for a multi-pilot helicopter, the practical MCC training may be reduced to not less than 7 hours if the same simulator is used for both MCC and type rating.

The MCC IFR course consists of:

  •  25 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction and exercises and
  •  20 hours of practical MCC training or 15 hours, in case of the student pilot attending an ATPL(H) integrated course.
If the MCC training is combined with an initial type rating training for a multi-pilot helicopter, the practical MCC training may be reduced to not less than 10 hours if the same simulator is used for both MCC and type rating.

Theoretical Training

Theoretical training is identical for both VFR and IFR courses.

Our experienced flight instructors of the Babcock MCS Germany Training Academy have prepared the theory in accordance with the legal specifications in order to convey the information to you in a compact and comprehensive fashion.

The theoretical training includes the following subjects:

  • Communication
  • Leadership and Teamwork
  • Situational Awareness
  • Decision Making
  • Workload / Work Distribution
  • Flight Monitoring
  • Human-Machine Interface
  • Personality, Attitude and Motivation
Practical Training
MCC VFR/IFR - Multi Crew Cooperation Kurs | commercial pilot training | helicopter pilot | pilot course | helicopter training | pilot school | flying lessons

Practical training takes place on our FNPT II MCC Simulator, which resembles the cockpit of an EC135. Many of the cockpit procedures can be simulated as in the real helicopter, so a good level of realism can be provided during the training.

The flights are recorded and analyzed on a separate debriefing station after the flight including video of the students, their reactions to given occurrences as well as flight data or limitations of the helicopter.

The course is completed with participating in the theory classes and successfully completing the required practical simulator training.

A certificate will confirm the approbation of the course.
